In Module 6 Topic A,  we’ve made some exciting updates to help students learn about data representation more clearly.

Students explore how to represent data using scaled bar graphs and picture graphs while interacting with a fun, animal-themed scenario.

In this updated topic, students dive into the world of an animal shelter hosting a charity competition. 

Students start by working with picture graphs — first learning to read and create them, then answering more challenging comparison questions. 

From there, they move on to scaled picture graphs, applying the same skills with greater complexity. This progression continues with bar graphs, starting with simple ones and gradually advancing to scaled bar graphs, always building toward deeper data interpretation and analysis.

With the new visual storyline, students learn how to draw graphs and solve problems like "How many more votes did one competition receive compared to another?" and "Which team was most popular?".

The updated visuals create an interactive and dynamic learning experience, where students engage with colorful, animal-themed graphics. They sort and count items like votes and adoption counts while getting a deeper understanding of how to represent and analyze these numbers visually.
