Assignment Feature Resources
The Assignments feature lets you send a specific set of Happy Numbers tasks to an ability-based group or a single student, and then see exactly how each one performed. While an assignment is open, it takes over the student's screen, so the work you picked comes first. The resources below cover the whole flow, from setting one up, to choosing what and when, to reading the report.
1. Getting started with the Assignments feature
The full setup: selecting students by proficiency level, choosing task length and skills, previewing the work, naming it, and setting start and end dates before it goes live.
2. To whom can I assign tasks?
Who gets the work: a single student, a whole class, or ability groups, with any skill from any grade open to anyone.
3. How to add a new assignment?
Using assignments throughout the year: the Active, Scheduled, and Ended table, the two "Add-assignment” buttons, the “Cancel” feature, and the “Reassign” shortcut that prefills fields for you.
4. Assignment size and completion time
Sizing the task: 5-, 10-, and 15-minute sets for K-2 (covering one, two, or three skills, respectively), longer spans for Grades 3 and up, and how the times correspond to a typical student's median pace.
5. How to choose the date span of the assignment and when it appears in student accounts?
Timing it right: the start date that populates the student's dashboard with the correct tasks, the end-date deadline, and a reminder that the learning path stays blocked until the work is done.
6. What do students see in their accounts?
The student's view: the assignment appearing at login and blocking everything else, a progress bar where each point is five minutes of practice, and a notification when the assignment is canceled.
7. Interpreting student results on the Assignment Report page
Reading the report: estimated time and objectives up top, students sorted into Not started, On track, and Need intervention, and a Details view with accuracy, time, and flags for students who need help.
8. Automatic cancelation of the assignment by Happy Numbers
When it auto-stops: Kindergarten cancels at three times the teacher-set time for the assignment, grades 1-5 at four times the set time. Each strand counts only active work time, so a student never gets stuck on a task that's too hard.
